SNEA (I)/PMO/9-10/1 Dated : 7th August 2009.
To:
Shri Manmohan Singh ji
Honourable Prime Minister of India
South Block, Raisinna Hill
New Delhi 110011.

Sub: Optimum Utilization of domestic satellites for Communication.
Respected Sir,
Our humble submission is to exploit utilization of our indigenously built satellites by ISRO to the optimum extent. In order to achieve this objective of optimum utilization, we feel that the move of BSNL management to hire the proposed bandwidth from IPSTAR /MEASAT defeats this very important objective which is not only in the interest of BSNL but also in the overall interest of the country. Fundamentally ISRO has come into existence to meet such domestic requirements and today when the prestigious country’s organization is fully ready and capable of meeting such requirements, we are completely at a loss to find any logical reason behind the proposed move of the BSNL management to meets its requirement from the private sector.
Moreover, in addition to the defeating the objective of optimum utilization of our domestic satellite, the proposed move of BSNL management is quite likely to endanger national security and raise other important issues. BSNL management, we understand is proposing all this in the name of meeting its bandwidth requirement in the name of urgency. But the fact of matter remains that ISRO is just ready and capable to offer bandwidth at any point of time.
Thus, the proposed move of the BSNL management has to be stalled by your kind immediate intervention. We solicit your intervention keeping in view the broader interests of our country including the grave security concerns that will arise by hiring bandwidth from private sector,
With kind regards,

G.L.Jogi
(General Secretary)
