Sub: Tele-density and Market Share as on 30.06.2009.
During June 2009, 11.91 million telephone connections has been provided in the country taking the total telephone connections in the country 46.48 crores as on 30th June, 2009.
The tele-density & market share of all other telecom operators is enclosed. Ranking in BSNL column has been introduced in Annexure 4, 5 & 6 in addition to showing growth during the month and year.
It is seen that:
(1) BSNL has added 5.85 lakh connections during the month of June 2009. This works out to 4.91% of the total connection added in the country during the month of June 2009.
(2) BSNL is at 2nd position as an operator with Market share of 17.89%. BSNL market share has decreased by 0.34% during the month of June 2009 and during 2009-10 (upto 30.06.2009) by 1.09%.
(3) The overall tele-density in the country is over 39.86% with Chennai License area topping at 108.16% and Bihar License area lowest at 20.24%.
(4) During June 2009 Gujarat circle has lost its 3rd position, North East (NE-1 & NE-2) circle has lost its 1st position, UP(W) circle has lost its 3rd position and Kolkata circle has lost its 3rd position as an operator in these circle. Thus, BSNL now holds 1st position an operator with total number of telephone connections in 5 license areas viz. Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Kerala, Punjab & UP(E) Circles.
(5) BSNL has No.2 position in total number of mobile connections in 4 License areas viz. Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Orissa and Punjab Circles.
